About Us Image
Green View House caters for 33 service users, both male and female. The people using our service are primarily 65 years of age and over.

We provide accommodation to people that require personal care with EMI residential or EMI nursing needs. We ensure the people we care for have all the necessary protection and attention they need to spend their latter days in a secure and caring atmosphere with compassion and dignity.

The home is staffed 24 hours a day, with a fully qualified and registered nurse on duty at all times. We go further to meet the needs of the people we care for in a friendly and efficient way. We endeavour to maintain dignity, individuality and privacy, and are always sensitive to the ever changing needs of people using our service. To help us achieve these aims, among other specialised staff, we have two 'Dignity Champions', who believe passionately that being treated with dignity is a basic human right, not an optional extra. Our team believe that care services must be compassionate, person centred, as well as efficient, and are willing to do something to achieve this. 'Dignity Champions' spread the philosophy throughout our team and are regulated by the Social Care Institute for Excellence. We were also accredited in January 2010 in London by The Gold Standards Framework. This is in recognition of everybody's hard work and input by the staff team and relatives/representatives.

Here at Green View House, we do not believe in top up fees. We feel these only cause anxiety to service users and their families at a time that can sometimes be stressful and worrying to begin with. We also understand the financial strains placed on families wishing to place their loved one with us and strive to ease these worries as much as possible. The local authority rate is set by Kirklees Metropolitan Council, whether a person is funded by the council or are self funding, our rates remain in line with them.

As a home which cares about our service users, we've been featured in Care in Kirkless newsletter, twice! Both times with praise and congratulations on the work we do. The Gold Standards Framework accreditation in Winter 2009 was reported and can be viewed here.

Adam, our Manager, is a Clinical Associate for The Gold Standards Framework (supporting Rosaleen Bawn a Specialist Macmillan Nurse for Palliative Care and Education). He travels to other Primary Care Trusts throughout England presenting lectures on The Gold Standards Framework at homes yet to achieve this highly sought after and prestigious award. The Gold Standard Framework is recognition as the best possible care that can be provided and is recommended as best practice by the Department of Health End of Life Care Strategy, The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, Royal College of General Practitioners, Royal College of Nurses and other major policy groups. Adam helps other homes to see where they can improve, where they might adopt different policies and practices in order to provide excellent care and where they can learn from what we've done here at Green View House.
